Privacy policy
Your tabs stay on your computer.
Effective 11 October 2026. Applies to the TrayMaker extension for Chrome.
- TrayMaker has no account and no servers of its own. Your trays, tabs and settings are stored in your browser.
- Nothing is collected for analytics or advertising, and nothing is sold.
- Something leaves your computer only when you turn it on: an AI provider you choose with your own key, or a license check if you buy a plan.
What TrayMaker keeps, and where
To do its job, TrayMaker reads the titles, addresses and icons of your open tabs. It saves your trays, the tabs you park, your settings and its daily backups in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. None of it is sent to us. We never see it.
Backups in your bookmarks
TrayMaker keeps a copy of your trays in a bookmarks folder called TrayMaker Backup, so you can get them back if the extension is removed. You can switch this off in Settings. If Chrome sync is on, Chrome syncs that folder like any other bookmark, under Google's privacy policy.
AI grouping and the Command Bar
AI features run only when you press a button or type a command. You choose where they run in Settings › AI provider:
- Chrome's built-in AI (the default) runs on your computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Your own Anthropic or OpenAI key (optional). When you run AI, TrayMaker sends that provider: tab titles (first 90 characters), tab addresses with everything after
?or#removed, your tray names, and the command you typed. Sites on your excluded list are never sent. TrayMaker shows what was sent after each run. The provider handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Your API key is stored only in this Chrome profile on this computer. It is never put in backups and is sent only to the provider it belongs to. Switching back to Chrome's built-in AI deletes it from TrayMaker.
Licenses and payments
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller, under its privacy policy. We never see your card details. When you enter a license key, TrayMaker sends Lemon Squeezy the key and a device label such as “TrayMaker on Windows”, then checks the key about once a week. Nothing about your tabs is sent.
Site icons
To show a tab's icon, TrayMaker loads it from the address Chrome gives for it, usually the site itself, just as Chrome's tab strip does.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising.
- We don't sell or transfer your data, or use it for anything other than TrayMaker's features.
- We don't use it to decide creditworthiness or for lending.
- No remote code: everything TrayMaker runs ships inside the extension.
Our use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing your data
Uninstalling TrayMaker deletes everything it stored in Chrome, including any API key. The TrayMaker Backup bookmarks folder stays until you delete it, so your trays can be restored. To free a license for another computer, use Settings › Your plan › Deactivate on this computer before uninstalling.
